Not Only Swollen Gums Manifest Gum Disease
Gum disease classified into two phases which are gingivitis as the mildest earliest stage and periodontitis being the advance or severe stage. Both conditions are being initialized by bacteria that lives inside the mouth which forms into plaque causes irritation leading to inflammation of gum tissues. Gums appear to be red in color, tender and puffy and bleeds easily during brushing when gingivitis occur.
When gingivitis is left untreated it can progress to periodontitis in which gum infection can spread below the gumline affecting the tissues and the bones that supports the teeth resulting to eventual loss of tooth and can trigger the occurrence of certain medical conditions.
Bleeding and swollen gums are the most common dental condition when gum disease or gum infection take place. Persistent bad breath, receding gums, sensitivity and tooth loose are the other conditions that an individual can experience when gum infection invades the dental health.
When gum disease symptoms are noticed, it should not be neglected. There is a need for a dental care expert to see the patient's dental condition for diagnosis and proper treatment. And proper oral care should be observed to prevent the build up of plaque from bacteria.
